Pain management during childbirth
When you are affected by pain during childbirth, it can be difficult to take on board information communicated verbally about the possible methods available to you for pain relief as well as the advantages and the disadvantages that may be associated with each option.
The Patient Decision Aid is developed with the aim of delivering clear and consistent information to expecting mothers and women in childbirth, thereby enabling them to make a more informed decision regarding their choice of pain relief.
The Patient Decision Aid contains a timeline showing the different phases of the birth process and the pain relief options that are relevant in the given phases. Likewise, the options are divided into medical and non-medical methods.
The pregnant women are introduced to the Patient Decision Aid during prenatal classes, and it will also be accessible from within the app "My Hospital". It is therefore expected that pregnant women will have familiarised themselves with the Patient Decision Aid already before the birth and therefore the use of the Patient Decision Aid during the birth itself will feel recognisable and easy to use for the expecting mother.
