Description of the project
The overall objective of the project
The general aim is to build on the experiences from the JA eCAN to enhance the digital capabilities of cancer centres in the Union, with particular attention paid to opportunities in Eastern Europe.
- Implementing a comprehensive training program for the development of digital skills (incl. telemedicine, telemonitoring, e-health tools) in the prevention context among health care professionals, patients, and the general public
- Enhancing digital collaboration within and between cancer centres
- Implementing telemedicine tools into different settings of cancer care to explore various clinical applications of these tools
- Creating and implementing a solid, integrated framework for the remote follow-up and telemonitoring of cancer patients throughout Europe. This JA will develop a framework to test and pilot the integration of digital tools in a safe and secure manner complying with all applicable EU regulations in order to improve the use and re-use of health data for the benefit of cancer patients.

The role of Lillebaelt Hospital
WP7 (Capacity building for telemedicine) consist of three Pilot projects:
- Assessment and management of cancer survivors needs of care
- Assessment and management of symptoms and adverse effects in cancer patients receiving active treatments
- Assessment and management of cancer patients in palliative care.
Role Lillebaelt Hospital: Co-lead Pilot 3 WP7 together with PASYKAF (Patient Organization Cyprus)

- To implement clinical application of telemedicine tools in palliative care setting
- To train patients and health professionals on telemedicine utilization
- To share Data Management Plan and Cybersecurity protocols
- To evaluate pilot projects outcomes.
The definition of the pilot study design and protocol was developed in collaboration with clinicians from the palliative care team, department management, and the research lead from the oncology department at Lillebaelt Hospital, as well as the other EU partners in the project, at the beginning of the project period.
